I've tried various ways to do this with no success. Imported to AutoCad then Copied into SW. Tried to manipulate to wrap on cylinder and won't.
Sometimes imported sketches are not closed and this might be the issue. Can you attach your files and a screenshot of the problem might be useful solving this?
Unfortunately I cant provide that due to proprietary issues....Thanks for the info though. I'll check the graphics to see if there are any open sketches.
It seems ScanTo3D addon have this ability. I didn't try it myself

If you're wanting to get an image from a pdf into a SW part as an appearance, you should be able to open the pdf, take a screenshot, open it in Paint, select the area, then save that area as a jpeg, png, etc. Then drag that file onto your Part face. If I completely misunderstood what you're trying to do, then never mind.
The method I use is to export the selected graphics out of Illustrator as a DXF. I then open the DXF with Draftsight check the DXF is correct, select and copy the graphics. In a SOLIDWORKS sketch I can just paste the copied graphics and size how I like (sometimes as a block).
