Creating a cavity without interference

I have a somewhat intricate part that I want to make a cavity for. Using Combine/Subtract gives great results, but I need to make the cavity bigger to account for shrinkage of the material. When I use the Cavity command with a scaling percentage, I always get interference somewhere in the part (see attached image) no matter what I option I choose for Scale about. What would be the best way to make the cavity at a constant offset from the edge of the part so that cavity is always exterior to the part and never clipping it? Thanks
