So I made the mistake of canceling the download of SWX 2018 SP2, and in doing so I was left with a folder called "SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP02" so I deleted it, but every couple of minutes it re-creates the folder. My guess is somewhere in the system it's still running to task to create the download folder and now it won't stop. I tried doing a repair to SWX. I've tried ending the task of "SWX Backgroud Downloader" disabling it an re-enabling it. Nothing, Am I stuck with a "SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP02" folder forever?
I was having the same annoying problem.
I disabled the background downloader, then deleted the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\IM\BackgroundDownloadRequest] key from the Windows Registry. After re-enabling the background downloader, the rogue folder no longer reappears.
If you choose to try this, it is always a good idea to back up the key before deleting it from the registry.
