I am new to routing. I have been building piping assemblies using pipe configurations up until now. I currently have a library of fittings that I use. How do I upload or transfer my files into the routing library?
are you wanting to transfer the library into solidworks? and what year of solidworks do you have?
I have '18. I want to take individual part files that I have and add them to the routing library. Essentially creating my own routing library with my part files for fittings. Everything from elbows, T's, and unions to ball valves PRV's and flow switches.
So yes transfer my files which are .sldprt into the routing library.
Welcome to the routing rabbit hole. I have found it more efficient to put your fittings into the assembly and start from a point. This way all of your elbows and fittings will be in the bom, and after you run your tubes, you can form new sub assemblies with your hardware in the top level of the model if needed. (ie crimped fitting hydraulic hoses)
Also routing has been known to be a bit buggy. This is nothing new, and IMHO SolidWorks should come with standard fittings in the library for hydraulics, and hard pipe, to eliminate the headache.
you can add in custom fittings to your library and save them there so they are all available
the easiest way i have found to do this is to create a folder with all of your parts then go to settings, file locations, and add that folder into the file locations for your toolbox, that makes them readily available for any assembly
Ok great, thank you
