Holding down the Shift key lets you select a part with tranparency turned on.
Perhap holding down the Shift key will work for your situation.

when i holding shift key, nothing happen?
and is it because my box affect this selection?
thanks in advance.
when i hide the box, i still can select the face i want even 'select other' got this .
it is my house stucture problem?
Once you right clicked on a face and go to select other, that face is gone as you know, then forget about that menu of select other to pick your face, just keep right clicking to peal off all unwanted faces to finally get to the target face.
thanks for your suggestion, but still cannot to select the face that i wannted....
You can only apply a porous medium to a body, not a surface. You can tell by the icon next to the selection menu.
oh...but what if i wanna that certain face only? because there is the wind flow direction toward it. thanks!
The characteristic of a porous medium is that the flow can go through it with a certain resistance. For example a catalyst converter.

What would you like to simulate by just selecting a face?
okay, but why do you only want to select a face instead of the body?
it is because, the wind will flow into it and flow out through the roof. (if the whole body is porous, the wind will just flow through it?)
