My employer makes large pressure vessels and we are wanting to buy a 3d scanner so we can measure the vessels and see how accurate they are. We want a model so we can use our robotic plasma torch to cut holes for nozzles more accurately.

Does anyone know a way of importing point clouds into Solidworks? ScanTo3D doesn't work as this is a huge point cloud. I have also tried Geomagic for Solidworks, and wasn't satisfied with their pricing for the quality it gave..

I understand that .rcp is an Autodesk specific file type, so converting it to Solidworks is going to be a pain, but something tells me that someone has figured out how to convert it. I tried contacting my vendor for support and didn't have much luck with them either.

I have attached the point cloud I am trying to convert.
