The books recommendation I found seams to be 4-10 years old so I'm looking for more up to date recommendations.
Any recommendations?
The math/theories have not changed in the last 10 yrs that I am aware of - so any book should be appropriate.
If you are looking for SolidWorks specific command examples SDC Publications has several books.

Simon MacKillop Feb 23, 2018 9:02 AM (in response to J. Mather)Thanks for responding so quick J Mather.
Yes I am looking at SW specific commands and tricks and I have earmarked some that are in the SDC Publications via Amazon.

Simon MacKillop Feb 26, 2018 3:24 AM (in response to Keith Frankie)Thanks Keith Frankie.
I've had a quick look at this thread I'd missed and there appear to have a few points I am interested in. So I have saved that thread to look more at it later.
Thanks again

Re: SW Simulation help book recomendations
Dan Golthing Feb 23, 2018 12:29 PM (in response to Simon MacKillop)Simon, I think you're mistaken. SolidWorks markets Simulation to anyone that can use a mouse. Basically, you just click buttons until you get your part to look like a rainbow and then you're done. There's no need to understand how it works or what all the setting do!! Isn't that great!?
I think it would be silly to have really good, clear-cut documentation and instructions for such a sophisticated piece of software that often is used to design equipment and products that put people's lives at stake.

Re: SW Simulation help book recomendations
Husein Delic Feb 26, 2018 3:49 AM (in response to Simon MacKillop)I suggest not to use any books, as its mostly waste of money. If you have some basic knowledge those books that you will find wont get you much additional. You will get more experience through working on new analysis. The simulation package is good for designers and the result are good on simple object, very close to ansys or abaqus. Try to learn to make good meshes and understand them, 90% of work is the meshing that will give you good results and 10% is setting everything else up (loads, contact, fixtures etc.) as its always the same procedure in all FEA software.

Re: SW Simulation help book recomendations
Simon MacKillop Feb 26, 2018 5:08 AM (in response to Husein Delic)Thanks Husein Delic for your valid advice.
I have been sorting out some parts and putting them through the simulation side of SW with, I believe successful results, but it is what I believe is correct, getting some confirmation that I am doing it right would be beneficial.
I also believe that you are right that the meshing is the main set up that I will have to master and I think I am letting myself down in that area.
Imagine that I gave you an hour or two lesson in the principles of driving a car, then telling you, ok now drive on the road without knowing the highway code properly. Having a reference book for would help for how often I use Simulation, I thought may be an advantage. I am also looking at the course that Solidsolutions do although it a bit expensive for me at the moment.
