Area lights not working in accurate mode?

I was just experimenting with the area lights present in Solidworks Visualize 2018, as a way to add highlights in reflections without having to change the HDRI environment. However, upon outputting an Accurate render, I noticed that the area lights are completely absent in the reflections. When I output the same file as a Fast render, they are present. But for my purposes I am going to need to use the Accurate render mode. Is there any way to fix this, or is this just a limitation of the area light?

 

I am also astounded by the difference in brightness between the two renders. Both feature a sphere / point light behind the red sphere in the middle, as well as an Area Disc light directly on top of the sphere. The sphere has a glossy appearance type.
