How intelligent is the detection of impossible flat patterns supposed to be in sheet metal?
I was surprised this one isn't an error. not when folded, not when flattened either.
It seems that material the other side of the fold is not considered correctly?

If you have Verification on rebuild enabled in system options > performance,, you should get an error when flattened.
Could also be this setting
Verification on rebuild (enable advanced body checking) not checked.
Ignore self-intersection for some sheet metal features not checked (why would I check that?).
I wonder what the down side of checking verification on rebuild is? performance? or will loads of the models I thought were good, fail with errors?

To my knowledge, there isn't any "detection" to intercept you from creating an invalid blank.
You plod along putting in your sheet metal features and when you try to flatten or unfold and it doesn't, you've detected it.
You can even do operations that invalid an edge so that you can no longer apply sheet metal commands to it.
It's up to us.
