    Extrusion Dimensions aren't showing

    Joe Tonkin

I am still working on a VERY simple part. However, It's killing me (Thoroughly Confused with Design Tables and Configurations. ). I've discovered another issue that may be causing some of my other head aches. The dimensions for extrusions are not showing.

Earlier I was trying to create a Global Variable. Everything I read said just to double click on the dim and then a dimension dialog box should appear where I could  create my variable. However, there is no dimension to double click on. I managed to work around the problem by setting up the variable in the dimension field under the Boss-Extrude Property Manager, but I don't think that's the right way to do it.

No I want to go back and add tolerances to the dimension in the model so that it will automatically come into the respective drawings. See here: Extrude/Cut Tolerances  & https://forum.solidworks.com/message/794703?q=Extruside%20tolerance . But again, that dimension isn't isn't showing.

This is a quick screen grab of what my Extrude looks like with the dim not showing. The dimension for the base sketch is there, but not the extrusion distance

Is there some setting I need to change somewhere or a button to click?

      I'm running 2018  SP 0.1

      Thanks again

The Blind extrude dimension doesn't show for me when creating the feature either.  However, after closing the feature you can click on it in the tree (or double-click if you don't have Instant 3d turned on).  That will display the dimension in the graphics area where you can select it to add to design tables, link to custom properties or global variables, etc.

Another option is to right-click on "Annotations" at the top of the tree and choose "Show Feature Dimensions" from the drop-down, but for complex Parts this can add so much information that it's difficult to sort out the right dimension.
