won't let me add guide curve.
I've already converted the main into separate sections to cut out the overlapping sketches but still won't work.
I'm pulling out my hair trying to figure this out arhhh!!!
Hello Chung-Hang... not sure yet what you are trying to do.. but, for the **Error**.. what is obvious.. you need to "connect" your Direction 1 and 2 together. (image attached)
Yup, thats a possibility
Soren did you reconnect direction 1 and 2 of sketch before proceeding with the surface loft like Paul recommended me doing?
Sorry but don't have access to Solidworks atm.
Any chance u could send me this revised part?
I am sorry Chung-Hang, but i didnt save it - as it was read only in my system.
And yes i did reconnect the verices to a projected sketch of the curve.
I also did a 3D sketch where i converted the curve to sketch - then i could use it i boundary surface using selection manager to align.
The surface trim was for cutting the last middle round shape, which was very hard to loft.
But i think you need one more sketch to secure the bulkiness of the ship, this cannot really be controlled at this point.
Tried again, and this time found the sketch for the bulkiness
Have a look at it.
Maybe it would be easier to first define the decks, so you can level the model and outer structure to that.
Added on 3D sketch to get one boundary direction to not overlap, as yours was set up.
Fixed the points - Voila (did not use bulkiness though, as it cant be done)
I added two more sketches and lofted the 1 and 2nd deck then worked my way to the bottom, however, did not end up having an entirely smooth single surface so here I am back at step one. Yes, I tried cutting patches out and filling it back up but still doesn't give me a smooth surface across. Can't believe how long this is taking me.
Attached is the part with only the sketch outline.
Can't open your attache parts.
I'll add the 3D sketch to get one boundary direction and report back.
Oh, i'm using sw 2017 sp3.
I could try to make it in 2016 - still needs some after work on the bow.
Not fussed about the bow as I'm going to cut the top of anyway.
Don't know why the middle sketch can't be used as a directional guide cos without it the back of the ship isn't tangent when with the other side when mirrored.
any idea why I can select normal to profile?
