When l try to "Show Wire Marks" I get a message: Cannot run "Show/hide wire marks". Selection does not include the following data: "Equipotential mark".
The wires are terminated on one end by a BNC connector and other end on a terminal. The wires are attached to a connection point.
What am I doing wrong?

I am back to this problem. I am still confused. I have to add a wire number before I can show the wire gauge and color? That doesn't seem right...I just numbered the wire I want to label, but it still won't show the gauge and color.
In SWE, Wire Number = Wire Mark. (intuitive, I know...) "Number new wires" calculates a unique wire mark for all new wires in the project. It sounds like you have your mark formula set to annotate the wire with the gauge and color - but you still need to run this command to generate the marks. The mark should then show up on it's own - if not, then you can use "Hide/show wire marks" to display it.
I think what you probably want to do is "Show/hide wire labels". This option is grayed out unless both ends are connected to something properly. Not sure what being connected has to do with size or gauge, since it is a properly of the wire itself. It's just one of the dozens of things that make you think SWE was created by people who have never worked on anything electrical before.
Yes, I don't understand the logic of having to number the wires before putting the color/gauge label on, or of having to connect it at both ends. Before any build/release I am going to re-number the wires anyway.

If I click on wire it's properties show its wire style...so it knows it's a wire. The only way I have been able to fix it is to redraw the wire.

So I think the reason I am getting this message "Cannot run "Show/hide wire labels". Selection does not include the following data: "Wire". is that the wire wasn't actually touching the terminal point.
Yes, I have issues with this ALL the time. SWE is very picky about connecting some wires to come connection points. Sometimes it looks connected, but it will be off by a couple thousandths of an inch, and that's enough to count as not connected, so it will grey out the option to show labels.
However, you shouldn't have to number it before you can show the label. You do have to number it before you can show the mark, but not the label. I'm not sure how you were getting the Cannot run error, I can't seem to get it to do that. The closest I can get is that if you try to show the mark on an un-numbered wire, it just does nothing.
I find it very helpful to get live connection feedback by turning my symbol connection dots to display when connected (or in 2018 you can also do the opposite of that) to ensure you have solid connection.
That does seem handy, however I HATE seeing the connection dots, so I always have them turned off for everything except where a wire connects to a wire.
I leave it set so I can get the connection feedback while I'm drawing something up, then turn it off when I'm ready to send it off, just a suggestion.
Have you generated a equipotential mark for the wire using Process>Number New Wires? Right click the wire and select: Equipotential Properties. If the value for "Mark" is blank you will receive this error.
