I have some .x_t files which are working fine in other softwares. But when I open them in solidworks I get Invalid Data error and some of imported parts are missing. Here is an attached example.
Opens for me just fine in SW2017 SP5.0
Tried to open your file but I get the same error message then a blank screen. I also tried to open it with Fusion 360 but nothing shown.
Using SOLIDWORKS 2017
I guess a corrupt file.
No problem for me.
whats your solidworks version ?
So the problem starts from Solidworks 2017
X. Men,.. interesting, for me, it will NOT open in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017?
..so, this file came from CAD Exchanger 3.4.0 (cadexchanger.com)?
Onshape opens it as well with some issues.
Thanks for sharing your settings Doug.
I checked mine and they are slightly different. The one setting that made the import work was "Import multiple bodies as parts", enable that and your good to go.
gosh dang, Doug,.. Dat was iT! ...all 2014, 2104, 2015, 2016 and 2017 work!
I don't have those Import and Export options in my system. Do I have to do something to get access to them or are they someplace else ?
SWx 2015 SP5.
In Solidworks 2016 & older, you will need to do it differently.
Change File Type to Parasolid
Click on Options
I knew I had seen that but I think it was from when I exported as Parasolid (or step).
I checked and on Parasolids I did not have the import multiple bodies as parts checked.
On Step files I did.
Works on solidworks 2017, but when I tried same with Solidworks 2018 trial, same problem.
Solidworks 2018 settings
I would suggest that you try it with 3D Interconnect enabled in 2018.
Tried with all provided import settings, it wont open in 2018.
I would encourage you to send the file to your VAR and explain the problem. It is revealing a bug/glitch in the Solidworks software that needs to be fixed.
