My system already has an uncertified GC. Is it possible to install a certified GC along with uncertified GC and the SWX is to utilise both?
SOLIDWORKS cannot utilize two graphics cards in parallel (as with NVidia's SLI system). It will only utilize a single card; one or the other. This is an article describing more detail on this from the SOLIDWORKS Knowledge Base.
Q: Does the SOLIDWORKS® software support the NVIDIA® SLI™ technology or the AMD Crossfire™ technology?
A: The SOLIDWORKS® software does not currently support the NVIDIA® SLI™ technology or the AMD Crossfire™ technology. Dual graphics cards are typically used to support multiple monitors, not to boost the aggregate GPU performance. In most cases, performance bottlenecks with the SOLIDWORKS software occur in CPU not the GPU. For this reason, multiple graphics cards do not necessarily provide any benefit.
The question that first comes to mind is 'why would you want SolidWorks to use both?'
I'd just be setting it up so that SW uses the better card.........
The problem is if I replaced with a new certified GC, the old GC will become unused one. I wish to know whether there is any way to use that.
You could use it for doing all your normal computer graphics processing but once again, if you have a better card in the system why not use it for that too! Many people run multiple GC's but I'd rather just keep things simple, alleviate any issues and run the one card.
Thanks for the explanation.
