So I am at my wits end with the bloody program! It crashes often both on my laptop and PC and each time I lose valuable time and money. I can replicate the crashes easily and I want to know what is causing them and how I can fix them. One example is when working with sheetmetal, often if I open up a part and unsuppress one of the unfold commands it will crash. Is this due to my computers and should I look at upgrading my hardware to something specific i.e. Xeon processors with Quadro cards, or is this just Solidworks not working properly? I need to fix this otherwise I will have to look at using other software.
If the crash is reproducible, just record an Rx report and send it to your VAR. They should be able to determine the cause of the crash pretty fast.
Pretty fast??? Not so much. It usually takes a few days with CATI. If you call you can connect to someone if you wait on hold. The tech support is good there but...anything created and emailed in gets last priority. I've had those go 2-3 days.
I agree with Alin, contact your VAR technical support team.
But If you want to resolve by your own, the first what you can do is install certified graphic driver which is downloaded from Graphics Card Drivers | Hardware & System Requirements | SOLIDWORKS.
The next think is Windows Event log. Click on the Windows Start menu and type "Event", click on Event log and check system errors which are listed in a time, when SolidWorks crashes. Then you can find out which components affected a SWx crashes.
Hope it helps.
If you are able to replicate the crash easily, please record an Rx session and send it to your VAR, your VAR will create an SR ( service request ) o.b.o you and SOLIDWORKS technical support team will figure out the root cause of the crash.
Thanks guys. I have contacted my seller and am organising a report for them.
