Is it possible to install PDM in SharePoint Document Library?
I would have to say no. I think that would be a bad idea and would cause a lot of crashing.
How about on Dropbox? SharePoint and OneDrive have 5000 and 20000 file limitations, we already hit that limit, so it is a non-starter...
You need to have the archive file structure on a drive that has a drive letter. It needs to be directly attached to the system. I tried moving an archive from D: drive when it was full to a UNC path to a drive on another server in the same local data center. I had nothing but errors. I applied permissions to all the users to have full read/write access. I had a guy in the IT server support helping try to think of things.
I eventually had to send a USB drive to the location and have it installed on the server. I then moved the archive to the USB drive. I am still fighting with corrupt files on that server that are not corrupt on other servers.
My advise is to install it all on the local system and don't risk the data to some network unattached drive.
If you are talking about the local view on the client machines that is a different and would not have the same implications that the server archive would have. I just attached a local view to my machine using a UNC drive I have write access and it appears to work. I would guess as long as you can browse to the Dropbox drive in Windows Explorer you could use it as a storage place for the local view.
