Creating foam cutouts for products

Hi guys,

I'm new to Solidworks and I have a package Im trying to design.

I'm trying to make a foam cutout for a pair of scissors. Ideally I'd like to take the surface geometry from one side of the scissors and sink it into a basic rectangular model.

Something like this image, but where the bottom of the pocket has the geometry from of the object? handgun-camera-pelican-case-1170-custom-foam-insert-for-smith-wesson-shield-magazines-foam-only-1_1024x1024.JPG?v=1510119077

I've used the cavity tool, but this only takes out exactly the volume of the scissors, not all the material above it. Is there a simple way to do do this?

Thanks very much!
