I'm gonna model the following rim cap. I need some advise and guidance to start off the modeling. I have both SW 2018 and PowerSurface plug-in.
Please guide me to make a proper model. I make this model just for practicing and not for commercial uses.
Please explain how to model the areas marked by red. My own preference is not to use PowerSurface fplug-in as much as possible.

Hi Alex,
I'm sure there are plenty ways to model this depending your experience. If I had to start out surface modeling then I would start looking at pattern first. I would familiarize myself with SW surfacing first and work simple problems. Then I would look for the main driving features.
Then I would make notes on the image as seen below and try to envision what SW function would work for that. The outer rim part and the inner disk are easy. They are revolved profiles but don't have to be. Next I would work on the spokes. Create a control surface at the crest of the pink line that i can use to make sure tangency is given between the left and right hand side since we need to pattern. The second crest is rotated at an angle given by the number of spokes. The orange opening is another control curve. You can use that for another control surface to force draft. The corners I would trim back and patch in the surface. Depending on my progress I would continue or maybe go back and try to split the design into different sections.
Thanks for guidance but I couldn't make anything out of some parts of your guidance. Can you please give me a Youtube link which all the features and control surface are used? The model doesn't matter, I just want to watch a tutorial about how to aplpy the features especially control points that you mentioned.
