This is something I've been aware of for a while, but it just nearly caught me out
Example
Sketch1 Just a simple Rectangle
Sketch2 Select Sketch1 > Convert Entities
All good, but if you look in equations...
The convert entities feature has added a dimension, that appears to be an offset
The thing is this dimension doesn't appear in Sketch2 at all, and the Sketch relation symbol is 'On Edge' Not Offset
So if say by accident you edit the dimension in equations then sketch2 is now offset, but there is no way of telling if you examine just the sketch
Contrast this to what an intentional offset would look like
I understand this problem is unlikely, but never the less it's a potential pitfall.
The best work-a-round I have found is this
I would much prefer if this was not the behaviour, surely it is unintended?
I'm currently using 2016, but it was the same in 2015.
Hi Rob,
That is a great find. Now I know how to offset a sketch created by convert entity. Like it a lot. That only works if you select the sketch feature as a whole. Picking individual entities won't create a dimensional relation. The best thing is that for multi contour sketches it will create individual offset dimensions.
