This is a online tutorial, slot cut on sphere is made with two steps in FM. Whereas I needed more than two steps in FM to make it.
Is it possible to make this in two steps?

Is it possible to have inner surface of the slot perpendicular to sphere in this way?
Perpendicular to what? Your sketch plane or the surface of the sphere?
Surface of the sphere
Like Dan Pihlaja said, you should look at the wrap feature.
In the attached image, it shows a "Cut" - this could possibly be accomplished by using a cut with a draft.
You can see in the screenshot it was done with cut-extrude also.
Here are some general manual steps. You can use wrap or you can first split the face as per your intend. Then add a ruled surface "perpendicular to selected surface". Then offset the original surface to trim the ruled surface. The options are plenty at this stage. Cut with surface will let you remove a solid section. The wrap is merely an automated version of that. But it always helps to know a manual way if the "auto button" jams..
Also yes :-)
The wrap function is your friend here.
