Part stays transparent

I made a part of a subassy transparent in a main assembly and I can't change it back. Clicking the icon to change transparecy doesn't have an affect and if I open the subassy that part appears solid.

Any suggestions to what I can do?

If you are positive that you unchecked the transparency in the FMT, try closing SW down then reopen the assembly to see if that resets things.

Sometimes the pop-up dialog is a bit stubborn. Try opening the Display State Pane, (LMB the double arrow at the top of the Feature Manager Pane,) & click on the component in your assembly. It will highlight in the Display State Pane & you can right click on the Transparency icon to change the state. This may prove more responsive than the pop-up. Good luck.

I had this exact problem--you have to find the subassy where you originally made it transparent. Keep opening different levels of subassys until you find the one where you originally made it transparent and you should be able to make it transparent.
By the way I have SW Pro 2011 x64 SP 4.0

You might this macro helpful: ModelProperties by Leonard Kikstra

ModelProperties is a nice tool to dynamically change the base color of SolidWorks part models, individually or multiple parts within an assembly. This macro incorporates a user customizable external data file to allow the user to add their own custom model colors to the selection buttons. This macro can also manage multiple color lists if needed. User also has option to apply color to shaded, wireframe or both.
