File Properties for hardware generated via Toolbox

In a previous job I used Inventor and AutoDesk Vault. The admin set it up so that when a user selected standard hardware they would pull from a central source on the network and the file properties would all be filled in.

So now I'm using SW and I have this nifty Toolbox to use. I dropped a couple of flat washers in place and when I went to make an assembly drawing with a BOM all I see is the part number as generated by the toolbox. "Regular FW 0.3125". I need to add a description/title and a material. I understand that I can use a utility to take this part and break the toolbox link, thus allowing me to add all that info. But is there a better way?

Just as aside, since we're now up to (4) SW users (finally!) we're getting PDM standard installed. I mention this because I figured this may or may not impact the solution someone here might suggest.
