Hey everyone,

I've been trying to figure out how to get the correct mass for this part. I've tried multiple angles and I always end up with the same mass of 1306.29 grams with 6061 alloy. So I was wondering if any of you would take a crack at it! I attached two pictures with the part plus dimensions, also the second picture contains the answer (question 4) reported in the back of the book.

Thanks everyone!

Edit : THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED

If you modeled the part correctly and used the correct material density, then the mass is correct.

You can play with the mass by adjusting the density or dim of the part (not recommended)

EDIT: seems to me that the dwg is super old and the mass (manually calculated at that time) might not be precisely as what you've done today on the computer !

Also From what I saw your 2D dwg, changing the angle (35 degrees at length of 170) will not change the mass
