I am using SW2014 SP5.

I decided to use the assembly layout feature to work out a basic 4-bar linkage (a feature I use rarely).

Next I decided to animate the motion to help communicate to others AND with the goal of tracing the motion of some key points. I use animation very rarely so this was a bit of a learning exercise.

  • I was hoping to animate between two configurations but can't seem to drive the angle dimension between blocks with animation.
  • Next, I thought about driving an angle mate but mates will NOT allow selection between entities of two different blocks
  • Next, (after deleting the angle dimension above) I tried adding a rotational motor. I eventually got this to work just as it should under the oscillation mode. However, you can NOT trace points with animations, this requires a Motion Analysis.
  • So I changed my motion study from Animation to Motion Analysis and no other changes. But now the rotary motor does not work. All of the blocks fly around randomly - as if my constraints are suppressed. But I have no idea where to address this.

I have attached the layout assembly (2014 version). This has two configurations to show the two states I would like to animate between. In a nut shell, the VMIC Block should rotate counter-clockwise 90° when viewed from the front.

Any suggestions on why a motor in animate  breaks when switched to motion analysis would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Daen
