Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
John Stoltzfus Jan 4, 2018 10:39 AM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)Did you try to show the view in the Shaded mode? Do you have the material set as glass?

Glenn Schroeder Jan 4, 2018 11:16 AM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)This question has been posed before, but I don't remember a good answer. One option that might work for you would be to select all the components behind the glass (either in the tree or the graphics area), right-click, and choose Show/Hide > Show Hidden Edges. I don't use this feature very often, but I'm pretty sure it will need to be repeated for each view. It may be more labor intensive than you'd like, but it might be worth checking out.

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
Josh Hixon Jan 4, 2018 11:39 AM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)As others have already said, I would more than likely hide the Glass portion in the top view. Another Option is just using Show hidden lines. It is hard to tell from your images what is underneath that you are showing, but in reality, they should show as hidden lines. Even though the glass is transparent, it is a solid layer, meaning everything under it is "Hidden" even if it is visible through the transparency. Hope that made sense, Just my opinion of it though. Good luck!

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
Sergio Monti Jan 4, 2018 11:40 AM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)Hi Dan, I usually create a configuration on the assembly without glass.
In the drawing view I use the "alternative position view" with the configuration without glass. Everything inside the glass will be shown on phantom line!
Hope it helps.

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
Dan Popcioanca Jan 4, 2018 11:51 AM (in response to Sergio Monti)Thanks to all for the input. Looks like I'll have to "work around" this common issue. Will most likely have to include a couple of isometric views using the shaded option to eliminate confusion.
Hiding the glass isn't really an option because the glass itself has bevels and I would like to show that in the drawing. I remember running into this before and I believe that there was no real "setting" that can adjust this. Would be nice if SW would add this option to make it a little easier.

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
John Stoltzfus Jan 4, 2018 11:54 AM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)One thing to try...
Go to the assembly file and right click the glass part and click on the Make Transparent, see if that changes in the drawing?

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
Sergio Monti Jan 4, 2018 12:00 PM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)Using the "alternative position view" you don't have to hide the glass.
You keep the glass on the "Default" configuration so your view is complete with the glass on.
When you add the "Alternative Position View", related to the configuration without glass, the component inside will be shown in phantom line "underneath" the glass.

Re: Seeing Through Glass on SW Drawings
Aaron Conner Jan 4, 2018 2:08 PM (in response to Dan Popcioanca)Depending on how much you need/want to show you could also use Broken-out section. Or simply change the view to show hidden lines.
