When rendering the part below I get a horizontal whitish 'stripe' through the middle of it. I can't figure out why. The .sldprt file I'm using is attached.Anybody willing to take a look? If there's something else you need, I'll provide it. Thanks...
The blue appearance, which is based on "Matte Rubber" internally uses a very subtle/small amount of sub-surface-scattering. The white line is actually the light coming through the surface.
You should start out with a Low Gloss Plastic instead. (Don't use "soft touch plastic" either as it also uses a bit of SSS).
Bump up the roughness to a pretty high level to achieve similar look.

Right. It's bleeding through b/c of the (sub-surface-scattering) SSS on the blue. There's no access in SSS amount in PV. It's either part of the appearance, or not. So you just kind of have to know which materials use SSS and which ones don't. See my previous comment.
