Helix sweep slanting problem

Hi everyone,

I am trying to create an auger with a triangular fin. The fin has to stay normal to the axis. When I try to create a sweep of the fin, the profile tilts as it moves along the spiral. I cannot get rid of this tilt that is produced with the sweeping feature. The final aim is to produce a variable pitched auger that is used for mixing of a powder.

Can anybody please help me to understand why this is happening and how I can get rid of it.

Frans,,, I did a couple of things with this. First I specified a direction Vector in "Profile Twist" . Then that failed (with Merge result) so I extended your profile into the boss just a tad.

I did about the same as Dennis, but used cylindrical face as direction instead of the axis

I noticed a problem area here.. not sure what that is... but I was working on your part imported as a future version file

    Thanks Dennis, I'd love to be on an active subscription, some of the recent improvements look great and I just have to stare in the sweet shop window..
    
    Seeing it I think I prefer your method of using the axis, but I thought I'd add selecting a face as an alternative. Maybe it would work in a situation where an axis wasn't available

      I appreciate it Rob. I hadn't thought about using the surface. I used the temp axis. Now I know that selecting the surface works and works well. Maybe we can talk SW into giving you a free upgrade

This works and seems to appear correct. I changed the profile sketch so that it penetrates the cylinder a little then changed the sweep profile twist from minimum to natural.

i dont think i understand this question properly
but here is something
i make threads the same way
u can even make it variable
and if u want u can also have the shape twiste allong another axis by using 2 helix/spirals

key to this is staying on the front top or right plane and put the spiral on the proper amount fo degree`s that line up to the plane

  yes by doing a conical cut
  
  there is another ways as wel but this would be the most easy to make
  otherwise u need guide lines to direct the sweep more and have the sweep sink into the part
