when designing in body position of a part can you add a new working ucs without moving the part out of body position?
You can add a new coord system:
I hope this helps,
yeah I know that but it does not become a working ucs, Like designing in body position, I can add that but then if I want that as my working ucs for all of my parts I have to move the part out of body position and I don't want to.
can you be more specific about what you mean by "working UCS"? because what Kevin Chandler suggested appears to "work"...
Move the planes and the ucs to the part not the part to them
well, you cannot move the origin or the default planes. you can add coordinate system(s) and planes, and also hide the originals. you can also redefine the front, top, etc. views. is this what you are looking to do?
no I was trying to the planes and the ucs to part, how I use to do designs in auto cad mech. cause then it always leaves part in body position guess I will try to find a work around.
I'm thinking you should just create a new set of planes and coordinate system for the location of the part and not worry about the other planes and coordinate system.
Why are you concerned about where the part is? It has (or should have) an in place mate at your assembly.
Are you trying to work with something like this in order to place your parts?
Personally, I have found it to be a pretty cool feature but it seems to flip directions sometimes.
Make sure not to have multiple configurations if you build this using the skeleton method. SolidWorks has a hard time working out the skeleton method within multiple configurations.
