Re: Error opening files. Hole Wizard/Toolbox location?

Hi Chris,
When you upgraded, you've also upgraded your SOLIDWORKS Data folder. This includes the hole wizard database. This means it is now the 2018 hole wizard database, so can't be read by 2017.

You could reinstall SOLIDWORKS 2017 and change the SOLIDWORKS Data folder on the summary page of the Installation manager, so that it creates a separate instance that you can point to for 2017.
Then do the same for 2018, and you can run them alongside each other without issue

Chris Holske Dec 5, 2017 4:42 PM (in response to Iain McEwen)I will give it a try. Under the gun with large project so it will have to wait.
Thank you, Chris

Re: Error opening files. Hole Wizard/Toolbox location?
Solid Air Dec 5, 2017 7:56 PM (in response to Chris Holske)How did you install SW2018? Over the top of SW2017 or separately? On your install drive how many SolidWorks Data folders do you have and what are their names if you have more than one?

Re: Error opening files. Hole Wizard/Toolbox location?
Chris Holske Dec 11, 2017 1:55 PM (in response to Solid Air)I initially installed 2018 as a separate install due to some customers are still on 2017.
I have just uninstalled both 2017 and 2018, then did a new install of 2017.
Same error, I need to clear that error 30 times on each opening of one of my models. It looks like the uninstall did not remove the new version of hole wizard?

Re: Error opening files. Hole Wizard/Toolbox location?
Solid Air Dec 11, 2017 4:05 PM (in response to Chris Holske)Although I have 6 versions of SolidWorks installed on my computer, I just follow the prompts so the older version is not overwritten (I have not had your issue yet). If you uninstalled and still have the issue then it would seem logical that not all the files are getting uninstalled. Unless you have a customized location, there should be a folder named SolidWorks Data on your drive's root folder. This folder should have been deleted after you unistalled.
