How do i go about building this part? Parts that are confusing to me are the placement of the origin and the cut of the arc
Not gonna help you with your homework, buddy. It's what your teachers are for.
I'm asking how to place the origin, not for you to solve the assignment, buddy.
Unless I’m missing something basic, the origin isn’t placed. It’s already there with 3 planes when you start a new part. When you create your first sketch, orient sketch entities to the predefined origin like is shown in the bottom 2 views.
I'm not sure why it's important to place the original point; however, you can use the front plane to create a sketch (including original point) as below image and use extrude feature to build your base. Then you can add more detail from there
..as with what Christian is showing.. (and agree, it's not a very clear pic but).. it looks like it's along the wall at the R50mm / 30mm (image attached)
Sorry but it’s not possible for the origin to be “along the wall” while also centered in the 25 wide groove by the way it’s shown in the 2 bottom views from the original screenshot. In the iso view, extending the Z arrow up to where it intersects the 100 X 30 deg. line implies that it is centered within the 100 width.
Put simply, as others have said, when you start your new part the origin is already there. Your three default planes run through your origin as I'm sure you know. So, with the dimensions you have, just sketch them on the correct plane, correct distance to or from the origin and your underway. Extrude or cut as necessary, rinse and repeat.
If pain persists, attach your efforts (model) so that people may guide you further.
