Component Instances?

I'd like to show the same specific component a number of times on different sheets. Its a servo controller without about 75 pins.

For example,

used once in a detailed wiring diagram showing a subset of the pins (mostly power)

used again in a another wiring diagram showing the remainder of the pins (mostly control)

used again in a detailed ladder schematic of same circuit

Finally used again in a block diagram, but for this I do understand how to create a a "single line symbol".

Can this be done without creating multiple components in the BOM?

No one else has this question

I though maybe using "cross references" as is done with relay coils and contacts.... but this doesn't seem right for a complex component like this?

Yes, this can absolutely be done, you can have several different symbols representing a single component, with each symbol referencing certain pins on that part etc. Common examples are a PLC (Input symbol on one page, outputs on another, power & ethernet on another symbol etc) or connectors with the shell split onto several pages even as they are representing one part.

When inserting the desired symbol, you can associate that symbol to the same component when the symbol is placed. To do this, choose "insert symbol" or "insert black box" (in either a line diagram or schematic), and choose the symbol you want, when you place it, make sure "automatic marks" is unchecked.
The component properties pop up, and you can click on a component in the tree on the right to "associate" to the existing component that you want the symbol assigned to.

If symbols are already in place and need to be reassigned to the same component, you can right click on the symbol and choose "symbol properties" to assign the component, or choose "assign component" for a slightly different dialogue that has the advantage of staying open, allowing many symbol/component associations to occur.

  Thanks Evan... This works very well for splitting up the pins between different symbols that make up the part.
  
  It would be great however if there were an option that ALL terminal marks could still be seen in the duplicate symbols (perhaps ghosted): In the above solution, the marks just disappear since a components' circuits seems to equal the sum of all its symbols. This means we probably need to create different symbols for each use of the part, so that visually there are not a lot of unlabeled pins.
  
  Also this solution does not create an "instance" of a specific component, for example if we want to show a simplified wiring scheme (i.e. ladder vs wiring diagrams) in same project book.
  
  Our current solution for ladder diagrams is to create the same components, but with a "." in front of the component mark... and which are placed in a different location which is excluded in the BOM. Not a horrible solution, but wish their was a more elegant way.
