Here is the part im modeling. Im having trouble getting the spine of it to take the shape i want if anyone could help edit it to look like this image it would be appreciated.
Sketch1 is not fully defined.
Lets start there.
Do you know how to fully define a sketch?
That would be just smart dimensioning everything needed in the sketch right?
An easier way may be to use a side "slice" sketch then extrude the contours as needed.
Then the next step is to extrude the profiles individually
Then the next one, etc
This approach may be hard at first, but I do find myself using this method more and more as time goes by. As someone who has been using SW since 2000, this was not he way that I was trained so many years ago, so it is sometimes hard for me to adopt this approach. For me it required a whole new approach to the way I design stuff, but it does speed up the process tremendously.
Okay ill give this a try. It seems as a better way to make it more accurate to the model.
You have a good start - all you need to do is follow my step-by-step instructions to fix your model.
Once you have dimensioned Sketch1 I can proceed to the next step.
BTW - it is usually best to leave Fillets for last. (I deleted them for now)
After you have dimensioned Sketch1 - you will need to dimension Sketch3.
So will i need to change anything to sketch 1 and 3 besides correcting the dimensions?
Well, if you want it to look closer to the image - you would have to make significant changes, but I suspect you would be doing well to finish what you have started as your first attempt and then make a second attempt using what you learned from the first attempt and other suggestions here as given by Jody Smith
