# Equations - Global Variable

Hi All,

When using equations, I make a global variable (GV), and then link many dimensions of the product to the global variable (like 0.42 * GV) etc. Say I want to have a part thickness of 25mm (which is dependent on a GV). Say GV is 100mm. To get the equation, I first pick up a calculator and divide the required thickness 25 with the global variable, which gives a value of 0.25. Then when entering the dimension for the thickness, I put GV * 0.25mm.

This is time consuming, picking up a calculator everytime for a dimension linked to some GV. Is there a quick method/good practice where we can enter the thickness value/dimension 25mm directly which we want, but it is linked to the GV. I just want to remove the picking up the calculator and doing it manually everytime. With hundreds of dimensions on a part, this can be very time consuming. Please advise.

Regards,
