i would like to create a tubing weldment in a assembly using 3d sketch. Wondering if this was possible?
insert part and edit it in the assembly....
ass relations to existing parts ect so that the part will be driven by the assembly and your good to go.
David has a point. If you just need to get it done, then relating to existing geometry can work. The problem you need to pay special attention when working this way is to avoid circular references. This becomes even more important with a complicated assembly.
If you have the time, rethinking the whole assembly may be beneficial. Think about using a skeleton sketch method that drives the assembly and tubing. That way when you make a change something, like moving a part, the tubing is automatically updated.
Yes, it's possible, but the 3d sketch will need to be in a Part. If you've already created the 3d sketch in the Assembly then see #32 at FAQ - Part 2.

which is better: Creating 1 structural member with multiple groups, or creating multiple structural members, each with their own feature?
The 2nd one is a continuation of the first.
