I have modeled a hook. Now I want to make the outer surface concave, as shown below with the red lines.
The hook was made by extruding the sketch shown below.
I am wondering what would be the best way to achieve this.
Michael,.. there are a few ways,.. I have attach one using a boundary surface using your profile and a arc.. and replace face.
CORRECTION: Solid Air saw that this did not concave all around.. here's the update:
I like your method better than mine; I was going to use a swept cut. One question though, it appears your surface bows out around the end of the hook
Solid Air,.. dang, you're right!.. I did not see that...
ok, I'll attach a update with the outside and inside as the loft/boundary.
And, please, post your Sweep!.. it is a good way to do it... and should work as long as it does not overlay at the sharp corner.
Uploaded my model. I did not understand your statement "does not overlay at the sharp corner". Take a look and see if my method did this.
Edit: I took a look at your updated model. I still like your method over mine.
Your sweep looks very good..
btw, I meant to say is if your profile is too big it will overlap/fail.. that is, if the 10mm is 13.5mm it would "overlap" (fail).. (image attached)
