I have copied drawings sheets from another drawing and pasted them to another page before but for some reason solid works wont let me do it. Anybody have this issue before?
Dave, I had tried various combinations to copy and paste sheets in same drawing and different drawings. All methods worked so I'm bit curious as why you got that error. Could you share what process /methods you are using which got you that error?
I get that error message occasionally also, but for me it happens when I'm trying to copy and paste a drawing view instead of a sheet. I've never figured out what causes it.
Deepak GuptaGlenn Schroeder, I have encountered this as well when copying views. It appears to show up, if you try to paste without first clicking on the paper area (or paste into the white space off the sheet). It also tends to happen when you attempt to copy a detail or section view without the parent.
Coincidentally I had this happen to me this morning. The drawing i was copying a page from, i copied and then closed the drawing out. I got the same error message. I opened the drawing I was copying from again, recopied and left the drawing OPEN, went to the new drawing and pasted it perfectly fine. The drawing that you are copying from must stay open (just minimize it) when pasting to a new drawing packet.
I could copy it and paste it without it being open. The sheet I was trying to paste had a sheet number like sheet1of2. I renamed it just sheet 1 and it worked fine.
Are you using Multiple Page drawings in one file or multiple files ??
I think I got it I just had to rename the sheet number
Hello Dave,
Try copy past by mouse, see the attached photo. Don't use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

Glenn, if you happen to see it next time, please share the reason (in case you find out) OR the process/steps which caused it.
I'll bookmark this Discussion and reply back when it happens, if I remember.

I believe the sheet name was invalid or something to that. I renamed the sheet and it worked. Thank you for the input much appriciated
