For some reason I cant sketch on any of this parts faces. Attached is the part and the assembly it is apart of. Thanks in advance.
Max,,, the reason you cannot begin a sketch on any of the faces is because the faces are not planar. You could add some planes to sketch on, perhaps using 3 points and sketch on the plane. Or, depending on what you want to use the sketch for you could do a spline on surface.
While I was pondering how much detail to put in my answer, you were all over it. Do you know is there a way to see if someone else has already replied to a post you're replying to?
I don't know Erik.. I do know that I have looked pretty silly sometimes when I post something that is identical to something that someone has posted a short time before me. Almost looks like you just copied a previous answer. The old egg on the face syndrome.
One of my assorted e-mails would notify me that I wasn't replying to the latest version of a thread. Seems like there could be something similar on the forum.
if you open the assembly I have a few intersecting parts and I need to clearance them so they slot together. I tried working with spline on surface and couldn't really get anywhere, I tried createing planes but was having problems getting it aligned right. Tried the cavity tool but sience I cant sketch on plane I have a hard time cleaning it up. looks like ill have to create planes for the surfaces and not use 3d sketch.
Looks to me like the problem is that you are using 3D Sketches to create the part. The surfaces are not truly planar, and so you can't create a 2D Sketch on them.
Yea looks like ill have to create planes to sketch for the surfaces and not use 3d sketch. I was hoping that there was a easy work around.
