I read a slide presentation about Managing & Best Practices for Large Assembly Models by Tom Cote. He suggested to build "simplified" derived configuration into the start parts. Can someone show me how this work? From time to time I download step file from vendors. Say a touch screen monitor unit.
I often use axis to mate screws to hole cut out. Tom suggested to use Faces when mates screw. How is this work? Can someone give me some illustration please? Thank you
Hello,
I think he means using the face of the cylinder in a concentric mate to the hole in the material (see image). Then you would mate the face of the under side of the screw head to the face of the part / material being fastened (see second image). As far as "Simplified" assemblies go, he talks about removing interior components or suppressing them if they're not visible in the view you're creating. You would also suppress things like text on the model.
