Drawing or component?
A drawing is 2D.
Part *.sldprt is a component of an assembly or subassembly (*.sldasm).
Can you attach the assembly that exhibits this behavior?
Are you hitting the green check mark and placing it in a location off your screen?

Could the 2nd assembly be within the 1st assembly.. Show the assembly in wireframe..
