Why are these objects passing through each other? (motion analysis)

I made this quick model to try something in motion studies. I have this bowl, and i have its axis constrained to front and right planes, and the bottom coincident to the top plane. I positioned the three balls above the bowl in the first animation frame. I have all of their materials set to plain carbon steel. I have solid contact on and all 4 items are selected and set to steel (greasy). I have applied gravity and the direction is pointing the correct direction. When I calculate, the balls fall right through the bowl. If i switch to basic motion, they stop at the ball surface, but when it starts spinning, and they start moving with the centrifugal force, they go right through the side of the bowl. What am I missing?
