short cut bar (the stroke of S key) is not functional in assembly mode and during the incontext editing after the SW2018 SP0 upgradation. But was working with PR1.
Do any one has the same issue? Whether some settings has changed on mine?
I'm sorry about that, you are correct. When I was troubleshooting, I was partially restoring parts of your registry, not the whole thing and a side effect of that was not getting your exact keyboard assignments (although it did show that they were assigned differently). When I loaded your full registry, it did indeed work in parts and it was assemblies and drawings where the S was assigned to recent documents. In any case, I'm glad it got you to find that the problem was that the S key was not assigned to the Shortcut Bar but rather to another command.
Please upgrade to SP 0.1 and see if that resolves the issue.
SolidWorks 2018 SP0.1 has crashed 3 times in ten minutes since installing it....10 minutes ago. I'm not even trying to do anything, it was just sat with a small part open & then crashed saying SolidWorks had to close
That definitely sounds like something going wrong on your specific machine. I would first suggest trying to reboot the computer and see if it continues to occur. If so, check SOLIDWORKS Rx to make sure everything is OK there. And if everything is OK, then try a repair on the SOLIDWORKS installation.
It seems to have settled down now. What I ended up doing in case it helps anyone else, was to open SolidWorks, let it go through all its menu & tab warnings & when fully started, shut down SolidWorks to save settings in registry & re-open. Once I'd done this I have had no more crashes so far.
I am with SolidWorks 2018 SP0.1, same issue persists.. ;-(
Please try running SOLIDWORKS Rx 2018 from the Start menu and at the bottom of the Home page, choose to run the safe mode that says that it will bypass the Tools/Options settings. This will run in a temporary safe mode with the default settings rather than your custom settings. If that solves the problem, then please do the following:
Then I can look to see what might be going wrong with your settings.
Thank you for your support. As you mentioned I have run the SW2018 in Safe mode and the issue doesn't appear. So as you told I am attaching the settings back up file over here. Kindly support me to get rid of this issue. Thanks in advance.
When you said it does not work in assemblies or edit in context, I thought that you meant that it DOES work in parts, sketch, and drawings.
With your registry setting, what I have found is that you have reassigned your S keyboard shortcut to a different function. Specifically, it is assigned to Edit, Suppress, This Configuration. You can tell this if you go into Tools, Customize, Keyboard and search for "shortcut" so it brings up Shortcut Bar. Notice there is no keyboard shortcut assigned to it. If you attempt to assign S to it, it will tell you what command S is currently assigned to. So, you can choose to reassign S to the shortcut bar or assign a different key.
I hope this helps,
It does work in Parts. in assemblies and drawing I was having trouble. The stroke of S opens the recent files in assemblies and drawings but not in the part. I have cross verified the registry settings after your reply and found that unknowingly assigned the S key for the recent files too along with the regular R key. Now I have removed the same and back to the usual track. Thank you for your support over my silly negligence.
I have got confused since this has happened after I upgrade to SW2018 SP0.1
