Is it possible to have the date format in SolidWorks not follow the Windows setting?

We currently have a drawn_date custom properties on our drawings. It is set as a date type property. I know that I can change my windows settings to get the date format to change, but this will then change how dates show up in other programs such as Excel. Is it possible to change the date format only in SolidWorks? Or should I just make this a text property, and we can just type in the date in the format we want. (We want DD MON YYYY, for example 17 OCT 2017.)

Thanks,

Carrie
