I am working on an impeller and I am trying to extract the core from the model but I cannot get the tooling split to save my life. It jsut keeps saying that it can't knit the surfaces.
I tried using the STEP in and out method but that didn't work either.
I realize that I am using a machined model but the internal is the same as the as cast (which has an odd parting line, which I might have screwed up). The draft is correct in the model and should not be changed.
Any ideas?
Quick look and it's a mess and have not got time at the second to start fixing it.
Probably best to ask what are you exactly trying to do with this?
You do realise that you end up doing a lot of the work yourself in solidworks via surfacing to split tools correctly.

For starters, don't use parting line surfaces function. Reorder your tree. Import, Parting Line, Shut off Surfaces, create a parting line plane, tooling split.

One other note, you won't be able to mold this. You might be able to cast it.
It's a 3D printed core, plus we have a core box to mold it, it is moldable, it's just complicated.
Before you're gone too far, please double check if this part can be molded? just took a quick loo and haven't figured out how to mold this part? Am I missing something here???

It can be molded, we have made this part before. We have a core box to make the core but they decided to go with 3D printed cores so I need the model and the customer isn't sharing.
