Dear all, i am beginner in sw, i want to know how to display size length, width, thicknes ,od ,id to set in different column?
In that case I would use global variables and custom properties to get that information to your BOM. If this is the type of information you use a lot, I would setup your part template with the required global variables and custom properties, so going forward they would not need to be created each time.
what sort of parts are you modelling? for od and id I would be inclined to recommend using a weldment to create the parts, this would allow create a cutlist that would give you all the data you mention. It may be the same for your other parts. 2016 SOLIDWORKS Help - Weldments - Creating a Custom Profile
Otherwise you would need to create custom properties in the parts for the required fields and link those to either dimensions, but I'd recommend creating global variables for each dimension, then link the custom property to the associated global variable.2016 SOLIDWORKS Help - Linking Dimensions Using Global Variables
Its like assembly in fabrication, some plate and some shaft which assy together.i need define plate and some shaft for each dimension like for plate use length width thicknes or for shaft use od and length, or od,id and length. Then when i take in bom need those dimension become separate in columnt because i ll be use those bom in excel for import to my mrp program.actualu i still evaluate solidwors due to my transition from inventor.
I had set on global variable for length, width and depth. then let me know ho to show them in bom assembly.
for custom property , how to use it? because for depth i want to change become thickness and other name like inside diameter
and or outside diameter and show them in bom assy.
You'll need to create custom properties which link the global variables. When you have the custom properties, you can add columns to a BOM, click the column header and from the dialog you will be able to assign a custom property field to that column. Repeat for as many fields as you need. Once you're happy with the layout of the BOM, you can right click the top left corner of the BOM table and save it as a template. You can create multiple templates.
I had try use, issued name in global variable. and in custom property that name in global variable cant be same.
so I take length in GV use L in properties. is it right like that?
is it possible without GV, but make new properties using those value of dimension?
You can link a dimension directly to a custom property. the downfall is you'd need to do that manually in each part. The discussion Scott Boerman has linked may be of interest to you if you are running SW2018
For Plate and shafts you could save profile sketches and use the weldment feature Structural Member to create them. If you embed linked properties in those files then many of the properties you mentioned will be created automatically in the Part as cut list properties. Please see Using Plate in Weldments, and also the file I've attached for round shapes (such as shafts or cable). It has the Ø linked as the "Description" property.
