Hi,
I would like to know if it possible to apply a color to my model in Solidworks. Then when importing my model in Visualize I would like that Visualize automatically apply an apparence depending on the color.
Thanks you

Visualize 2018 will reuse SolidWorks assets. Go to time 48:10 for all the 2018 Visualize enhancements.

I don't think this is true. Visualize will now have all the same appearances that SolidWorks has (built specifically for Visualize) but they won't automatically apply (or be exchanged in place of the SolidWorks appearance) when you import your SolidWorks file. It would still be a manual process of reapplying the new Visualize material if you wanted to replace the imported SolidWorks appearance.
At least that's the way I understand it working.
Hi all,
With Visualize 2018, we import all SW appearances and automatically transition them to Visualize appearances, where possible. Therefore a glass in SW should be a glass appearance type in Visualize; a metal in SW should be a metal appearance type in Visualize; a plastic to a plastic and so on. If you are experiencing SW appearances that import as a 'generic' appearance type in Visualize, please reply back to this forum thread with the details so we can test and implement improvements.
On this topic, we are planning to enhance the automatic mapping of SW appearances to Visualize appearances in a future release. This feature has been prioritized with all the other new features as well.
I think Yao was asking something different. I don't think he's describing the workflow of a custom mapping. ie Map my yellow stuff to "MyCustomMultiLayerAppearance1.svap" and map my red stuff to "MyOtherCustomAppearance2.svap". He did say he wanted something to map to a "multi layer appearance"...so I'm assuming it's a custom appearance he wants to map to.
Yao - can you clarify? Are you looking to make custom mappings? Or are you just looking for appearances applied in SW, to look the same/similar in Visualize...which generally already happens by default as people have explained.
My suggestion is to add all appearances inside SolidWorks. Then while importing select Group/Appearances on the import pop up window.
All appearances will be there but you might want to tweak them a little as well as the HDR.
