This is video is explaining about Heal Edges. Is this a problem with imported part only?
SOLIDWORKS - Heal Edges - YouTube
I have split only edges.
Here is model with splited face too.
When you import a file (neutral extension) Solidworks is trying to model geometry. Sometimes the face is created using a few smaller faces. If you care about nice looking of you part you willl need to delete face and fill.
When you make a part in Solidworks there shouldn`t be that problem. But, if someone really want, he can make the same problem on modeled part. Please check attached file. I have recreate this problem on surface model.
I was unable to open your file. I use SWX 2017.
I am also using 2017, and got the same error message.
file was corrupt. This should works.
I couldn't see any different before and after Heal Edges is applied.
Next time, ask sender not to send you the step file so you can minimize the healing edges issue
Since I'm the author of that part that you show and did the original presentation on the part in one of my SWW presentations, I will answer you question. No, Heal edges is not just for import parts but any SW part where you want to eliminate multiple edges that are a result of a modeling operation or imported from another CAD system. Knit, sweep cut etc. are modeling operations, if used incorrectly can cause the situation where you want to use Heal Edges to "clean up" the edge - or what I have long referred to as "a dirty edge". A good candidate would be a model where there are multiple tangent edges connected together but no adjacent face edges that would validate having the extra vertices along that edge. I have that original model and if you respond, I will try to post it here. A classic example of this situation is if you try to cut a solid surface with a sweep and use one of the existing edges (before the swept cut) as a guide curve.
In the video example Heal Edge command converts the surface model into a solid body as well. This is an issue for me as well.
Please send me original model as well.
Actually the part that is featured in the Go Engineer video was originally presented by me to demonstrate the Replace and Delete Face commands. I pull up my old presentation and I have a better example file attached along with the original one you requested as well as my SWW presentation.
In original file HealEdge is not used to repair face whereas in my file I used HealEdge to repair face.
Is there any specific reason for not using HealEdge to repair this face or just showing alternative method?
