hi, I made a part and it shows up in solidworks folder. I open the part but from there it will not allow me to edit the part or make a drawing of it, or in fact do anything with it. the part is saved as a part. what have I don't wrong and what do I need to do to correct it. thanks, terry
Terry,, Are there any features in your tree? Can you show us a screenshot of the tree? Or maybe attach the file?

It may seem like an odd question but do you have both SOLIDWORKS 2016 and 2017 installed on this machine?
hi chaps, its showing default display. I have know idea what this is, or how to get out of it. I am only running one program. and I have know idea how to copy file to place here. sorry guys I am new to most of this program. terry

A screen shot or attaching a file would assit in finding the solution to the problem.
As you said default display and new to the program please see image below.
Forgive me if this does not fix it but it may be the feature tree is hidden or the config tab is active.

Is this a virtual Part, by any chance?
hi. I cant get the software to copy the part tree. at all. the part will not show up if I press make drawing from part or if I try make drawing from assembly. All the parts I have draw have worked out ok, bar this one which will not import into the assembly in fact it does nothing at all.
Post the part here so we can investigate.
