It's me or any of you have seen this
When I copy text message from the post and paste it into my reply for quote, the screen is rolled up whenever I type
I am also experiencing this problem. I figured it was a problem with my browser, but couldn't find anything in the settings. I'm using Chrome Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 7. What browser are you using?
I have had the issue that whenever I paste any copied text or image into a reply the page scrolls up to the top. I can still continue to type, but the view is of the top of the thread/post.
Here is mine, see below image, running on windows 10 Pro.
My problem is exactly the same... What has changed? I don't think I have chrome set to auto-update.
I have verified this doesn't happen in IE 11.0.9600.18617.
Sarah Dwight and Christian Chu, are you using Chrome and if so, which version?
Edit to Add: Apparently auto-update is enabled and I'm running the latest version:
Thank you guys, it makes me feel better as I'm not the only one seeing this
I'm seeing the same issue and I thought that I had broken down something. Pressing page up and down keys tends to fix it temporarily.
Could this have to do with Scroll Anchoring? I'm not even sure what this means:
Chromium Blog: Scroll anchoring for web developers
Believe it's more like to anchor the page to avoid its jump as I've seen this behavior on my iPhone
No problems here:
I tried on Microsoft Edge and got no issue too
I love chrome but need to run SW forum on Microsoft Edge for now
Now that we have identified it is browser specific, do we know who to report it to?
Jim Wilkinson, do you know who could sort this out over at SWX?
Richard Doyle is the man on this one...he holds the responsibility for the forum when it comes to primary moderation and any issues with the forum interface/functionality itself.
Thanks for the quick response. That's right, I forgot.
Richard Doyle what do we need to do to get this straightened out? I and many others prefer to use Chrome. Is this an issue with Chrome or a setting on the website?
Hopefully there would be a quick action as Chrome is the most popular browser

Strange - I am also using Chrome and everything worked normal for me.
I clicked on the "Reply" (1)
Then the " (quote mark) (2)
and it copied the previous message without rolling the screen up.
Were you doing it some other way?
Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
what happens when you start to type?

When I click the Reply button the previous message moves up to open my window and then stays
---OK -- now it is doing it to me too - I was typing and then moved the first part of my reply - doing a ^C >> ^V to move it down and the window jumped to the top - right now I can not see what I am typing because it is on the top of the page.
Try toggling to <HTML> and then back to Full Editor.
Does that "solve" the issue?
Edit: After going into HTML
click on the screen and hit spacebar or enter one time
now return to Full Editor.
This is really strange behavior. When in <HTML> mode it doesn't scroll to the top of the page, but if I have a link in the box and get out of <HTML> mode it brings me back to the top of the page if I type anything. So, it was a good suggestion, but doesn't solve the problem.
Additionally, I tried cutting some text from notepad and it brings me to the top of the page if I type anything. So, it is not just hyperlinks causing this behavior. And once it starts, I have to close the tab and reopen the thread in a new tab to get it to stop.

I think this has to do with text format from chrome. If you copy text and paste to notepad to strip all the format and copy and paste again from notepad back to here then it will be ok
or you can download an apps (paste without format) for you convinience -
Just so I can keep up with this thread, I also have been experiencing this odd behavior.
I am also running the latest version.
I have this partially figured out. I compared text generated by copying and pasting from notepad with "Paste" and "Paste as plain text". The difference appears to be an & being in the HTML code. If I go into HTML mode and add "&", it breaks...Interesting.

For what it's worth, I'm using Mozilla Firefox with no problems. Quote worked just fine and I did it for Rick's response at the very bottom of the thread (at the time) and started one for a post higher up the list, also with no problems.
