Yes, there are 2 ways to convert solids into the sheetmetals. I will say automatically conversion of solids into sheetmetal works best when there are no critical bends in the solid parts. And manual conversion is best when there are some critical bends in the part or odd bend relief. For ease of use in manual conversion, keep the bend radius +0.1mm for a safer side. Lets say, you are using 3mm thk plate then while converting this solid into the sheetmetal make band radius 3.1mm.
However, its depends on individually how one wants to convert solid into sheetmetal.
