error when opening file without ownership

I upgraded to Solidworks 2009 and am now having this annoying issue where I cannot open anything out of the PDM Vault unless I have ownership of the file/assembly.

Is this a setting somewhere? I cant seem to find it.

Ok, solved this problem, the issue was that the registry stuff became corrupted when solidworks 2009 was loaded on the machine (I even did a clean install, uninstalling 2008 completely)

To solve, my solidworks rep basically deleted the solidworks registry entries, and then all was solved!
Now I have to go back and fix all my toolbars and file references....

Zenjoe,

There is no option for this upon open, there is an option for this upon check-in but this is not your issue.

You can try a couple of things; Do you have the vault set to "validate on startup" if not set this option and reboot your vault. Check to see if you still have this issue.

If you still have the issue you should try a fresh install. First backup your vault. Next stop the PDMW service and do a windows uninstall of PDMW. This will only uninstall the program all of your data should remain. Reinstall the vault and point it to your existing data.
